Friday, January 6, 2012: Philippine's Department of Tourism headed by Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr. recently launched its new campaign slogan entitled "It's more fun in the Philippines." The tourism secretary said that the new campaign singles out what no other destination can offer, and "that is the Filipino people."
"Our strategy is simple: while other countries invite you to observe, Filipinos can promise a more heartfelt and interesting experience. Wherever you go, whatever you do in the country, it's the Filipinos that will complete your vacation and will make your holiday unforgettable," Jimenez said.
Just after a few hours after its launching, the campaign started trending in major social networking sites. Despite some negative feedback, more people extended support to "It's More Fun in the Philippines" slogan. Here's what other Pinoy celebrities has to say about the new campaign:
"Through hardships and heartaches a filipino will always give you a sincere smile" - Anne Curtis on Twitter
“The new tourism campaign just made Pinoys living abroad miss the Philippines even more. Because it’s more fun in the Philippines!” - Bianca Gonzales on Twitter
“We may not be as rich, modern, orderly, efficient as other nations but it's more fun in the Philippines - Jim Paredes, Twitter
Jimenez promised the new campaign's logo which features a bright colorful banig woven on top a yellow pixeled Philippine map would later be translated into a “very powerful” logo in merchandise.
